Cardamom prices moved up by Rs 25.40 to Rs 870.70 per kg in futures trade on Monday as speculators enlarged their positions, supported by strong spot demand.
Lower arrivals from producing regions also influenced cardamom prices.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, cardamom for August delivery moved up by Rs 25.40, or 3 per cent, to Rs 870.70 per kg, with a business turnover of 180 lots.
Similarly, the spice for delivery in July gained Rs 24.40, or 2.99 per cent, to Rs 839.10 per kg, with a trading volume of 719 lots.
Market analysts said cardamom futures rose sharply on the back of strong spot market demand against restricted arrivals from producing belts.
