Billed to be one of the fastest growing region with a GDP of whopping 121 billion euro and incremental growth rate of 9%, the Veneto region in Italy is home for diverse high-tech entrepreunership through incubation strategies, said president of Veneto Innovation, Italy at the recently concluded international conference on business incubation.
Having the pride of place for bagging the innovative region by European Union, well thought-out and meticulously implemented growth oriented plans spanning education, innovation, economic diversification, networking etc., had helped the region to reap its benefits.
While speaking about the Mexican model of incubation, Maria Del Sol Rumayor, director of the National Programme of Incubators, Mexico, said the country?s mission is to leverage the demographic dividend by tapping the productivity talent of 60 million population between the age group of 14 and 59 years, through the 450 incubation centres spread over 180 towns and cities.
Hailing the incubation model in promoting innovation based entrepreunership across sectors, she said only 35% of the fledgeling independent enterprise in the small and medium category outside incubation promoted by young entrepreuners succeed where as it is a roaring 83% inside incubation enclaves. Emphasizing the private participation, she added 237 incubators were nurtured by NGOs and Private promoters.
Narrating the Iran incubation endeavours, Mostafa karimian eghbal, vice-minister of technology, ministry of science, said mammoth presence of youths averaging 20 years of age in the universities, out of the total 70 million population has a potential to propel the knowledge based industries in the incubation eco-system.
Iran now has 21 science and technology parks housing 58 business incubators providing a direct employment to around 9,000 people, he said. The country is witnessing a gender inclusive growth with women students around 60% pursuing higher education in universities and aspiring to play a big role in ICT, pharma and medical sectors, he added.
Rustam Lalkaka, president, business and technology development strategies LLC, New York, said business incubation being a borrowed idea poses the lack of proficiency in English as a barrier in many countries including Iran and Mexico and Asian Pacific countries like Japan and China. On comparision, he added India has advantage of the English in absorption and assimilation of incorporated ideas and technologies in the incubation centres.
