With over two lakh non-executive employees striking work for the second day demanding wage revision, a few services of BSNL, especially repair-work, was impacted in some regions.

Besides non-executive employees, over 10,000 engineers are also on an indefinite strike from Tuesday seeking absorption of officers on deputation from the Department of Telecom (DoT).

BSNL Employees Union General Secretary V A N Namboodri said, “There is a massive response to the call and more than two lakh workers are on strike. Most of the offices are closed as nobody is available. Repair work was also affected.”

The employees union will meet today to decide further course of action.

The All India Graduate Telecom Officers Association of Engineers, which has called for an indefinite strike, said they will continue with their protest.

The engineers association said, “Customer care services and some of the online operations and repair work of BSNL have been impacted due to the strike.”

However, BSNL management could not be contacted for comments.

BSNL offers telecom services across the country except in Delhi and Mumbai.
