What does success mean to you?

He who is silent is forgotten; he who does not advance falls back; he who stops is overwhelmed; out distanced, crushed; he who ceases to grow becomes smaller; he who leaves off, gives up; the condition of standing still is the beginning of the end. To me success is a journey and not a destination. If at the fag end of my life, I can feel that I lived life in the correct manner, moved forward learning from the mistakes and was able to make a difference to someone, I would feel that I have been successful. It?s not about the millions that you made, but what you did with those millions that will make people remember you. If you are remembered long after you are gone, you can count yourself successful.

What is your biggest strength?

Building relationships with people, understanding their point of view, their emotions, and being able to alter my communication style to suit individual preferences is one of my key strengths. This helps me develop an emotional connect with people across all levels in the corporate world. I value relationships, respect them and go out of my way to cultivate them.

What?s your stress buster?

The times are difficult for the banking industry and one can classify any senior banking job as a high pressure and stressful job. Mine is no different. However one of my key strengths is my ability to absorb stress. Akin to a sponge, I soak in all the stress without letting it impact me or my relationships with people. However at times the sponge starts dripping. In such a situation I talk, listen to some Bollywood music, or watch cricket. And when I can, I write. Stress, in fact, brings out the best in me.

God to you is?

After reading my first book, If God Was a Banker someone asked me what I thought of god. I replied, ?god to me is not a think, he is a feel. God is an unutterable sigh, planted in the depths of the soul. All are but parts of one stupendous whole. To me god is an author too. Our life is his novel. Let him write it. We must only turn the chapters and move from one page to the other, without trying to alter the script.
