The Indian Broadcasting Foundation (IBF), the apex body of leading broadcasters? has finalised its own self- regulatory guidelines and complaints redressal mechanism for entertainment and non-news channels.

Aimed at ushering in an efficient, transparent and independent self regulatory mechanism by the private broadcasters, these guidelines will be strictly followed by all members of the IBF, Jawahar Goel, president, IBF said.

IBF has put in place a three-tier redressal mechanism starting with the broadcaster (at the level of television channel), the Broadcasting Content Complaints Council (at the level of IBF), and finally a Content Appellate Board headed by a retired judge of Supreme Court or High Court.

This comes after the information and broadcasting ministry shared the concerns of members of Parliament and various section of the society on growing instances of indecent content on television channels. IBF will soon meet and present the guidelines to the I&B minister Ambika Soni.
