In a bid to give further momentum to the proposed gas pricing and allocation policy, the Andhra Pradesh has sought audience to make a presentation before the group of ministers (GoM).
According to the sources, Chief Minister Rajasekhara Reddy is writing a request letter to the Union government in this regard. “The state (AP) government wanted to explain to GoM its stand on the gas pricing issue,” sources said.
Reddy is now preparing a power-point presentation to be given to GoM on pricing and allocation related issues. The presentation will also explain the hardships the gas-based power projects are facing.
Andhra Pradesh is insisting on an independent authority to determine the natural gas price and shall not leave it to the market forces.
Sources said that the Chief Minister had emphatically made his point on the gas pricing besides he also told the Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, how the opposition can exploit the issue politically, if the government fails to establish rational, justifiable and affordable pricing formula for the natural gas.
