Air India has appointed Sunil Kishen as chief operating officer (COO) of its low-cost arm Air India Express.
?It has been decided that Sunil Kishen, executive director (southern region) will look after the function of Air India Charters till further order,? a January 4 airline order said. Air India Charters, which holds separate air operator?s permit (AOP), runs the Air India Express brand.
The COO?s slot was vacant ever since Pawan Arora had to exit the company last year over the controversy that had erupted over his eligibility to head the operations of the company.
Faced with resentment by employees in the past over high salaries to professionals hired for Air India and its low-cost subsidiary, the management has this time decided to offer executives a pay scale maintained by public sector companies.
