The Lucknow University has decided to increase seats for its undergraduate courses by 20 per cent. The decision, which was taken at a meeting of the admission council on Friday, will also be applicable to the affiliated colleges of the university.
?It was government instruction to increase the seats by 20 per cent. The admission council today decided to increase the seats,? said GP Tripathi, Registrar, Lucknow University.
?The seats for BA and B Com in both the university as well as the affiliated colleges will be increased by 20 per cent. However, the increase in seats for B Sc will depend on the seating capacity of the laboratories in both the affiliated colleges as well as the university. The principals of the colleges have been asked to assess the situation and inform the varsity about it,? said Tripathi.
With this, around 8,000 more seats will be offered by the university and the affiliated colleges. For admission for these seats, the university will hold second round of counselling in this month.
The increase in the seats will be in all the categories including self-finance, honours and regular courses, said Tripathi.
