Elon Musk extended his congratulations to Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday night for becoming the most-followed leader globally on the social media platform X.
“Congratulations PM @NarendraModi on being the most followed world leader!” Musk posted on X.
On July 14, PM Modi celebrated this milestone with a message: “A hundred million on @X! I’m thrilled to be part of this dynamic platform and value the discussions, debates, insights, people’s blessings and constructive criticism. I look forward to an equally engaging future,” he wrote. Modi, who joined X in 2009, has seen his follower count surge by 30 million in the past three years.
Other prominent world leaders with substantial followings include US President Joe Biden, with 38.1 million followers, and Turkey’s Recep Tayyip Erdogan, with 21.5 million.
PM Modi’s social media reach extends beyond X, with nearly 25 million subscribers on YouTube and over 91 million followers on Instagram..
Earlier in June, Musk also congratulated Modi on his Lok Sabha election victory. “Congratulations @narendramodi on your victory in the world’s largest democratic elections! Looking forward to my companies doing exciting work in India,” Musk had tweeted. He himself has 190.1 million followers on X.
