We roll into the second month of the financial year, and automakers have announced their sales details. We have seen in detail how the automotive sector – two and four-wheelers – did in the last financial year and in March 2025. Now, it’s time to take a look at April 2025 sales.
Last month, Maruti Suzuki and Hyundai posted negative growth, despite their best-sellers – Hyundai Creta and Maruti Suzuki Swift – posting positive YoY growth. Other carmakers such as Mahindra, Tata Motors, Kia, Skoda, Honda, and Toyota posted positive YoY growth in March 2025. Has luck changed for Maruti Suzuki and Hyundai in April 2025? Did the other carmakers hang on to their sales momentum? Here are all the highlights.
So far, in terms of electric two-wheeler sales, TVS leads the segment with Ola and Bajaj closely following the Hosur-based manufacturer, while Toyota has reported a 33 percent growth in sales compared to April 2024. Hyundai, Kia, and MG have reported positive sales so far, while Tata has seen a decline. Royal Enfield, who registered over 1 million sales in FY25, saw flat sales while Honda sold 4,871 units in April 2025. Two leading two-wheeler brands, Hero MotoCorp and Bajaj, have reported negative sales in April 2025, while Honda has beaten Hero in April sales.

Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India’s sales numbers for the month of April 2025 stood at 4,80,896 units. This includes domestic sales of 4,22,931 units and 57,965 units exports.
Auto Sales April 2025 Live: Bajaj domestic sales down 13%
Bajaj has registered negative sales growth in April 2025, having sold 1,88,615 two-wheelers in April 2025 as compared to selling 2,16,950 units in April 2024. However, exports saw a 4 percent growth, accounting for 1,29,322 units.
Auto Sales April 2025 Live: Hero Vida sees strong sales
Hero MotoCorp dispatched 3, 05,406 motorcycles and scooter units in April 2025. Motorcycle sales accounted for 286,089 units while scooters accounted for 19,317 units. The company’s electric mobility brand, Vida, sustained its strong growth momentum in April, with dispatches of 7,116 units of the Vida V2 electric scooter.
As part of a planned operational strategy, the company implemented a temporary production halt from April 17–19 at its Dharuhera, Gurugram, Haridwar, and Neemrana facilities to facilitate supply chain alignment and conduct scheduled maintenance and infrastructure enhancements; normalization is anticipated in May 2025.

Auto Sales April 2025 Live: Honda says ‘strategically moderated dispatches’
Honda Cars India registered total sales of 4,871 units in April 2025. Domestic sales of the company stood at 3,360 units and exports at 1,511 units. Sharing thoughts on the sales performance, Kunal Behl, Vice President, Marketing & Sales, Honda Cars India said, “In view of the prevailing market conditions and subdued consumer sentiment, we have strategically moderated the dispatches in the month of April to maintain optimal inventory level across our network, ensuring operational efficiency and preparing for demand fluctuations without burdening the dealers.”

Royal Enfield has registered domestic sales of 76,002 units in April 2025, seeing a flat growth. The company’s exports, however, saw 55 percent growth in April 2025, having shipped 10,557 units. Total sales for April 2025 stood at 86,559 units for Royal Enfield.

Mahindra has managed to outsell Hyundai and Tata Motors in domestic sales, securing the secon spot in April 2025 auto sales. Mahindra’s domestic sales stood at 52,330 units, while Tata registered sales of 45,199 units and Hyundai, 44,374 units.

Auto Sales April 2025 Live: Suzuki sales up 14% at 1,12,948 units
Suzuki sold a total of 1,12,948 units in April 2025, registering a 14% growth over April 2024 when it sold 99,377 units. In the domestic market, Suzuki sold 95,214 units, up by 8% from 88,067 units sold in April 2024. Exports also grew strongly, with 17,734 units shipped in April 2025, compared to 11,310 units in April 2024, marking a 57% rise.

In the Utility Vehicles segment, Mahindra sold 52,330 vehicles in the domestic market, a growth of 28% and overall, 54,860 vehicles, including exports. For Mahindra, models like the Scorpio, Thar Roxx, XUV700, and even its latest electric SUV lineup are strong contributors.

Total two-wheelers for TVS registered a growth of 15% with sales increasing from 3,74,592 units in April 2024 to 4,30,330 units in April 2025. Domestic two-wheeler registered growth of 7% with sales increasing from 3,01,449 units in April 2024 to 3,23,647 units in April 2025.
Motorcycle registered a growth of 17% with sales increasing from 1,88,110 units in April 2024 to 2,20,527 units in April 2025. Scooter registered a growth of 18% with sales increasing from 1,44,126 units in April 2024 to 1,69,741 units in April 2025.
Electric Vehicles of the company recorded a growth of 59% with sales increasing from 17,403 units in April 2024 to 27,684 units in April 2025.

For Maruti Suzuki, its compact segment which consists of the Baleno, Celerio, Dzire, Ignis, Swift, and WagonR, and its UV segment that consists of the Brezza, Ertiga, Fronx, Grand Vitara, Invicto, Jimny, and XL6 have seen positive growth compared to April 2024 sales.

Total sales in the month include domestic sales of 1,42,053 units, sales to other OEM of 9,827 units and exports of 27,911 units. Tata Motors has seen a decline in domestic PV sales in April 2025, after its March 2025 sales saw growth. The carmaker registered sales of 45,199 units in April 2025 as compared to selling 47,883 units in April 2024 — a decline of 6%.

Auto Sales April 2025 Live: Kia sees 18% growth with Sonet leading charge
Kia India has reported sales of 23,623 units in the domestic market, registering a healthy 18.3% year-on-year (Y-o-Y) growth over 19,968 units sold in April 2024. The Sonet led Kia’s sales with 8,068 units, followed by the Seltos at 6,135 units. The Carens maintained its strong demand with 5,259 units, while the newly launched Syros added a promising 4,000 units to the total. The premium MPV Carnival Limousine contributed 161 units to the monthly figures.

Hyundai‘s domestic sales has achieved 9 million units since its inception in India, and in April 2025, the company reported a YoY growth of 23 percent compared to April 2024. Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) recorded a growth of 33% in April 2025 over the same period last year, selling 27,324 units. In April 2025. Domestic sales stood at 24,833 units, while exports contributed 2,491 units. In April 2024, TKM had sold 20,494 units. The growth momentum was sustained despite a maintenance shutdown from April 21-25, 2025, undertaken for the upkeep of machinery and equipment to maintain operational efficiency, productivity, and safety.

TVS has managed to dethrone Ola and Bajaj in EV sales in April 2025. Overall EV sales registered 91,791 units in April 2025, up 40 percent YoY. In contrast, two-wheeler EV sales in April 2024 stood at 65,555 units. TVS registered sales of 19,736 units, followed by Ola at 19,709 units, and Bajaj with 19,001 units.
