As April concludes, carmakers will be revealing their vehicle sales report with details of their overall sales, manufacturing, and growth compared to April 2023. Here are all the sales numbers from leading carmakers in India such as Maruti Suzuki, Hyundai, Tata Motors, Mahindra, Kia, MG India, and more.
With the new financial year beginning last month, have carmakers seen an increase in sales, or is the market still struggling? Here are all the details, and sales numbers of various carmakers, along with their YoY growth in India.

Mahindra now sells only SUVs in its lineup. The most recent launch from the carmaker is the XUV 3XO which is essentially a facelifted XUV300. Earlier this year, the company launched a facelifted version of the all-electric XUV400.
More SUVs from Mahindra, including EVs, are lined up for launch this year including the XUV 3XO electric, 5-door Thar, and the fully-electric XUV.e8.
Mahindra sold a total of f 41,008 passenger vehicles in April 2024, all of them SUVs. This resulted in a YoY growth of 18%.
Domestic: 2,16,950 motorcycles and scooters sold by Bajaj in the domestic market in April 2024. During April last year, Bajaj sold 1,81,828 units in April 2023, resulting in 19% YoY growth.
Export: 1,24,839 two-wheelers were dispatched by Bajaj to overseas markets, leading to an 18% YoY growth.
Bajaj Auto recorded a monthly sales of 3,41,789 two-wheelers in April this year as compared to 2,87,985 units during the same month last year. This translated into a 19% YoY growth.
Domestic: In April this year, Hero MotoCorp sold 513,296 two-wheelers in the domestic market, as opposed to 386,184 units sold in April last year. This resulted in a 33% YoY growth.
Exports: The company dispatched 20,289 units to foreign markets in April this year, resukting in a YoY growth of over 100%.
Hero MotoCorp sold a total of 533,585 units of motorcycles and scooters in April 2024. This translates to 34.7% YoY growth over the corresponding month (April 2023), when it had sold 3.96 lakh units. MoM growth stands at 9% over the previous month’s (March 2024) sales of 490,415 units.
The company registered 4,351 units in domestic sales and 6,516 units in exports in the month of April 2024.
Honda cars has revealed its sales figures for April 2024, and the carmaker has registered sales of 10,867 units last month, as compared to 7,676 units in April 2023, a growth 41.5 percent.
Exports for Suzuki two-wheelers declined by 89.85% YoY. The Japanese auto giant shipped a total of 11,310 units to foreign markets in April 2024 as compared to 21,472 units in April last year.
Suzuki recorded a cumulative monthly sales volume of 99,377 units in April 2024, registering a YoY growth of 12%. Total domestic sales stood at 88,067 units, thus, registering a YoY growth of 31%.
TVS recorded electric vehicle sales of 17,403 units in April 2024, indicating continued robust demand. Electric vehicle sales last year in April 2023 were at 6,227 units. TVS’ current electric scooter portfolio includes the iQube and X.
Motorcycles registered a growth of 24% with sales increasing from 1,52,365 units in April 2023 to 1,88,110 units in April 2024. Scooters registered a growth of 34% with sales increasing from 1,07,496 units in April 2023 to 1,44,126 units in April 2024.
TVS’ total two-wheeler sales registered a growth of 27% in April 2024 with sales increasing from 2,94,786 units in April 2023 to 3,74,592 units in April 2024. Domestic two-wheeler sales registered growth of 29%.
Royal Enfield has registered total sales of 81,870 units in April 2024, while its domestic sales accounted for 75,038 units, registering a growth of 9 percent. However, Royal Enfield’s exports saw a growth of 61 percent in April 2024.

For Maruti Suzuki, SUV sales accounted for 39,308 units in April. Here’s a snapshot of SUV sales for Maruti Suzuki and their YoY growth:
Indias leading carmaker, Maruti Suzuki has registered sales of
168,089 units, out of which paasenger vehicles accounted for
137,952 units. The company registered a growth of 0.4 percent in April 2024 compared to April 2023.
Maruti Suzuki‘s total domestic sales at 140,448 vehicles, flat compared to 139,519 vehicles sold last April.
Maruti Suzuki exports in April at 22,160 units Vs 16,971 vehicles exported in April, 2023.
Tata Motors has registered total passenger vehicle sales of 47,983 units in April 2024, registering a YoY growth of 2 percent. Out of total sales, domestic sales accounted for 47,883 units, while exports accounted for 100 units. Tata’s domestic sales has seen 2 percent growth.
Taking a quick look, Toyota registered sales of 20,494 units in April 2024, reporting a YoY growth of 32 percent, while Hyundai has registered a 9.5 percent growth with sales accounting to 63,701 units and MG recorded a negative 1.4 percent growth.
Sales have seen a growth for carmakers owing to new launches and updates. The Hyundai Creta is a good example, as it helped the carmaker regain lost ground, while upcoming car launches will help in the coming months.
Speaking on the sales, Sabari Manohar – Vice President, Sales-Service-Used Car Business, Toyota said, “In FY 2023-2024, we demonstrated an unwavering commitment towards quality and customer centricity that pivoted us to report record breaking growth. Inspired by the same determination, we are thrilled to announce that in the month of April 2024, we have recorded a growth of 32% over the same period last year. We believe that this stable performance underlines a strong foundation for another positive year.”
In an official statement, the company said:
“This success also reflects a significant increase of 48% in first four months of CY 2024, with a sale of 97,503 units, as compared to the same period in CY 2023, where the company sold 65,871 units.”
Out of total sales for Hyundai, domestic sales accounted for 50,201 units in April 2024, registering a YoY growth of 1 percent. In comparison, Hyundai’s domestic sales in April 2023 was 49,701 units.
