There is tremendous hype generated around the Tata Curvv ever since it made its debut as a concept in July 2022 followed by the 2023 Auto Expo. A major factor around it is its polarising design which hasn’t been attempted by many car manufacturers in India.

Spied on numerous occasions over the past one and a half years, Tata bets it would be another game changer for them. With the coupe SUV nearing its debut, Tata Motors has officially teased the Curvv on its social media platforms for the first time. Like Punch and Nexon, the Curvv will be offered in both combustion and fully electric derivatives.

Tata Curvv: Exterior design

As seen from the previous images of the pre-production concept model, the design will be in sync with the recent SUV launches like Harrier, Safari, Nexon, and Punch.ev based on the brand’s new design philosophy. Up front it will get a sleek LED strip on top and dual-projector LED headlamps inside triangular clusters at the bottom. A similar connected LED stripe is likely to be offered at the rear as well.

The latest teaser partially reveals its coupe-like side profile with a sharp receding roofline which is the Curvv’s biggest highlight. Apart from the silhouette, the teaser also gives a sneak peek into the crossover’s body panels. Other visual highlights will include a wide track, a shark fin antenna, muscular wheel arches, and a prominent boot lid spoiler.

Tata Curvv: Interiors & Features

Going by the images of the pre-production concept, the Curvv is expected to flaunt a minimalist layout for its cabin interiors. This means less buttons on the dashboard and console, and more integrated controls via touch panels. Highlights will include a floating touchscreen infotainment display, a fully-digital instrument console, Tata’s new two-spoke steering wheel with a touch panel, and touch-based HVAC controls.

Other notable features expected to be included are powered ORVMs, ventilated front seats, auto-dimming IRVM, 360-degree surround camera, a JBL sound system with subwoofer, push-button start, and wireless smartphone charging to name a few. Previous spy images have confirmed that Curvv will get a panoramic sunroof. In terms of safety, expect it to benefit from a Level 2 ADAS.

Tata Curvv: Powertrain specs

As mentioned earlier, Curvv will be available in both battery-powered and ICE-powered models. The EV version of Curvv is expected to get both single- and dual-motor setups. The former will get a front-wheel drive layout while the latter will get an all-wheel drive configuration. In either, range will be around 400-500 km on a single charge.

The fossil-fueled Curvv will utilise the same 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol engine and a 1.5-litre diesel engine as Nexon, albeit in a higher state of tune. Transmission duties will be carried out by either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed AMT. A 7-speed DCT could also make the cut.

Tata Curvv: Price & Rivals

Upon launch, the ICE version of Tata Curvv will directly compete against the Citroen Basalt, another upcoming coupe SUV besides the traditional rivals like Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Maruti Grand Vitara, Volkswagen Taigun, Skoda Kushaq, and more. In its fully-electric avatar, the Curvv will take on the Hyundai Creta and Maruti Suzuki eVX both in development currently.
