Bharat NCAP has released the results of its first batch of cars crash tested for safety ratings, all of them manufactured by Tata Motors. After mid-size SUV twins– Harrier and Safari— Bharat NCAP or BNCAP got an opportunity to crash two fully-electric SUVs– Punch EV and Nexon EV — from Tata’s portfolio last month.
Like Punch EV, the Nexon EV has scored an impressive 5-star safety rating at BNCAP. The subcompact electric SUV has scored 29.86 points out of 32 for adult occupancy protection (AOP), and 44.95 points for child occupancy protection (COP), thus securing 5-star ratings in both categories.

The five-star safety rating is applicable to all variants of both the Medium Range (MR) and Long Range (LR)Â versions of Nexon EV. The battery-powered Nexon comes kitted with safety features such as six airbags, electronic stability control, pre-tensioner along with a load-limiter for front seats, a manual airbag cut-off switch for the front passenger and ISOFIX mounts for rear seats as standard.Â
