Tata Motors unveiled the production-spec Curvv last week ahead of its official launch on August 7. As we already know, Tata will launch both ICE and EV versions of the Curvv in the market, most likely the battery-powered version will make it to the showrooms first. Ahead of its market launch, details of the powertrain have been leaked online.

According to a recent media report, Tata Motors will offer the Curvv EV in two battery options— 40.5 kWh and 55 kWh. The former is offered in the lower-spec trims of Nexon which is good enough to return a peak range of 465 km in the subcompact electric SUV. Reportedly, the 55 kWh should offer a range exceeding 600 km on a single charge.

Both battery variants of the Curvv EV will be powered by a front-axle mounted electric motor. While exact motor specifications of the electric Curvv are still under wraps, we expect the smaller battery unit to come with a single-motor, front-wheel drive configuration whereas the larger battery pack to come as a dual-motor, all-wheel drive setup. Tata Motors will also offer a fast charging with the Curvv EV which will allow the battery to be rejuvenated by 100km in just 10 minutes

Tata Curvv EV: Exterior & Interior styling

The Curvv EV’s front fascia features a split headlight design with the signature LED daytime running lights situated below the hood. As an EV, it replaces an air dam, presenting an enclosed nose and front bumper. Similar to the Punch EV, the Tata logo at the front serves as the charging port.

The side profile of this new EV SUV displays a coupe-like design and robust blacked-out wheel arches. It boasts a pronounced shoulder line and an imposing stance, ensuring the Curvv EV stands out on the road. The distinctive split lighting design is carried over to the rear. The design is further enhanced by the addition of silver-finished skid plates at both the front and the rear.

Tata Motors is yet to officially reveal the cabin of the Curvv EV but it is expected to be on similar lines to the Nexon EV. Based on Tata Motors’ new design language, the Curvv EV will get a two-spoke steering wheel with a backlit Tata logo, and digital touch buttons control panels.

In terms of features, Curvy is expected to be kitted with a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment display, fully-digital instrument panel, panoramic sunroof, 360-degree camera, a premium music system, a ventilated front seats, Level 2 ADAS and more.

Tata Curvv EV: Expected price & rivals

Upon launch, the all-electric Curvv will take on the likes of MG ZS EV, and the upcoming Hyundai Creta EV and Maruti Suzuki eVX. The ICE version of Curvv will lock horns with the Citroen Basalt coupe SUV as well as other traditional SUVs such as Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Maruti Grand Vitara, Volkswagen Taigun, MG Astor and more. Prices of the ICE Curvv are expected to start around Rs 11 lakh whereas the battery–powered Curvv is expected to have a starting price of around Rs 20 lakh (both ex-showroom).
