
Yamaha Motor came to India in collaboration with Escorts and continued with the joint-venture until the year 2000. In 2001, Yamaha Motor India became a 100% subsidiary of Yamaha Motor Co. Limited, Japan. In 2008, Mitsui & Co. Ltd, became joint investors along in the YMC in India Yamaha Motor Private Limited. Yamaha has had a prominent name as a manufacturer of performance-oriented motorcycles in India thanks to the likes of the RD 350 and RX 100. Currently, India Yamaha Motor’s product line up in India includes Ray-Z, Ray-ZR, Alpha, Fascino, Saluto, Saluto RX, Saluto Disc Brake, SZ-RR V2.0, FZ, FZ-FI, FZS-FI, Fazer-FI, YZF-R15S, YZF-R15 V2.0, FZ25, YZF-R3, MT-09, YZF-R1, YZF-R1M and VMax.
