Tata Punch EV vs competition — Price check

Tata Motors has expanded its EV portfolio by launching the Punch EV, priced at Rs 10.99 lakh onwards. With the launch of the all-electric Punch, Tata Motors has the largest EVs on offer for any carmaker in the Indian market. The Punch, in its ICE form, is the carmaker’s second-best-seller in India, and now with the all-electric version, Tata is looking to expand its customer base.

Speaking of customers, the Punch EV has one direct rival, and that’s the Citroen eC3. Apart from the eC3, the Punch competes with the Tata Tiago, however, since the two are from different segments, let’s concentrate on the eC3 as the Punch EV’s direct rival.

Tata Punch EV

The Tata Punch EV is primarily offered in two versions, Punch EV and Punch EV Long Range, powered by 25kWh and 35kWh battery packs respectively. The former offers a range of 315km, while the latter claims a range of 421km. The Punch EV makes 80bhp and 114Nm of torque, while the Long Range version makes 120bhp and 190Nm of torque. Tata also claims a 0 to 100kmph acceleration in 9.5 seconds.

Following Tata’s new nomenclature, the Punch EV is available in Smart, Empowered, and Adventure versions, while they are further divided in terms of equipment and tech they pack.

Citroen eC3

The Citroen eC3 is the only EV on offer by the French carmaker and prices start at Rs 11.61 lakh, over Rs 60,000 more than the Punch EV. That said, the eC3 is offered with a standard 29.2kWh battery pack that delivers a range of 320km on a full charge.

The battery pack and motor combined make 56bhp and 143Nm of torque, significantly lower power compared to the Punch. That said, the eC3 is available in two primary variants, Vibe and Feel, while they are further divided based on the equipment and features they offer.

Tata Punch EV vs Citroen eC3 price comparison

The Tata Punch EV is priced between Rs 10.99 lakh and Rs 14.49 lakh ex-showroom, while the eC3 is priced between Rs 11.61 lakh and Rs 12.99 lakh ex-showroom. The 3C3 carries a higher base price while selecting between the range-topping variants, the Punch EV is significantly higher.
