Volkswagen has launched new special edition models of its prime sellers– Taigun and Virtus in India. Called Sound Edition, this new variant of Taigun and Virtus will be offered in limited numbers, although the German marque is yet to reveal exact numbers available on sale for both these models.
Volkswagen Taigun, Virtus Sound Edition: What’s new?
Based on Topline trim, the new Taigun and Virtus Sound Edition gets cosmetic enhancements on the exterior and feature upgrades over their respective standard models. For starters, both limited-run models of Taigun and Virtus get ‘Sound Edition’ badges and graphics on the C-pillars.
Both the SUV and sedan models of Sound Edition are available in four exterior paint schemes including Rising Blue, Wild Cherry Red, Carbon Steel Grey and Lava Red. The Taigun Sound Edition further adds a touch of sporty flavour with a white-painted roof and ORVMs on specific colour options, giving the cars a contrasting look.
Besides the cosmetic updates, these new special edition models receive additional features including powered front seats and a seven-speaker audio system comprising a subwoofer and an amplifier. No other changes have been made in either model.
Volkswagen Taigun, Virtus Sound Edition: Engine specs, prices
Based on the Topline trim, powering Taigun and Virtus Sound Edition are a 1.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine which kicks out 114 bhp and 175 Nm of peak torque. This motor is paired with either a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed automatic torque converter unit.
The Virtus Sound Edition is priced at Rs 15.52 lakh and Rs 16.77 lakh for the manual and automatic variants, respectively. The Taigun Sound Edition is priced at Rs 16.32 lakh and Rs 17.89 lakh for the manual and automatic variants, respectively. All prices are ex-showroom.
