We have seen sales reports for most carmakers in July 2024, with top carmakers such as Maruti Suzuki and Tata Motors reporting negative growth. Despite the decline in YoY sales, the overall four-wheeler passenger vehicle segment has seen a YoY growth in July 2024, according to FADA.
Now, let’s take a closer look at the top 5 best-selling carmakers in July 2024, along with their sales numbers compared to July 2023 and their YoY growth.
Best-selling carmakers in July 2024
In July, Maruti Suzuki leads, as it always has. India’s leading carmaker sold 1,37,463 units in July 2024 as opposed to 1,52,126 units sold in July 2023, registering a YoY growth of negative 9.6 percent. Maruti Suzuki has also lost market share in July 2024.
Hyundai comes in at second, followed by Tata Motors, who have both seen negative sales growth in July 2024. Hyundai recorded total sales of 49,013 units last month while Tata’s sales stood at 44,727 units in the same period. Compared to July 2023, Hyundai and Tata have seen sales decline by negative 3 and negative 6 percent respectively.
In fourth and fifth come Mahindra and Toyota, both registering positive growth compared to the three carmakers ahead of them. Mahindra’s sales in July 2024 stood at 41,623 units while Toyota recorded sales of 29,533 units. Mahindra and Toyota posted positive sales of 15 percent and 42 percent respectively.
