There is no rest for the victor as Tata Motors is set to launch the much-anticipated updated Punch ICE and CNG versions. The compact SUV has consistently held the top podium position this year, and the new trims are expected to further boost sales numbers. Here’s all you need to know about the 2024 Tata Punch ICE and CNG versions.
Tata Punch ICE, CNG facelift: Design
The subcompact SUV made its debut in October 2021. The Punch steadily made its way up the top 10 best-selling vehicles and now remains as the undisputed champion. Earlier this year, Tata Motors launched the all-new Punch EV, which is based on a brand new generation 2 electric architecture, the Acti.EV, that has pushed the SUV’s numbers to unprecedented levels.
Based on Tata Motors new design philosophy, the new Punch ICE and CNG are expected to borrow the sleek and space age exterior design from its EV version. It will continue with the split headlight design but will be more contemporary. The new Punch is expected to get all-LED lighting with a connected LED DRL, tweaked front grille and front bumper with air dams for cooling the engine. It is expected to get newly designed 16-inch alloy wheels.
Tata Punch ICE, CNG facelift: Features
The updated Punch will get a twin 10.25-inch infotainment system and a digital instrument cluster like its EV counterpart. The current Punch ICE and CNG model get a 7-inch touchscreen and front ventilated seats. The test mule retains the current steering wheel, but as both Nexon ICE and EV come with a new two-spoke steering wheel with illuminated logo, maybe the 2024 Punch could get it.
The Punch comes packed with safety functions like reverse parking sensors and parking camera, six airbags, a 360-degree camera, rain sensing wipers, tyre pressure monitor, electronic stability program etc.
Tata Punch ICE, CNG facelift: Engine Specifications
The Punch will retain the 1.2-litre 3 cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine, which is available with either a 5-speed manual or a 5-speed AMT. The petrol version churns out 86 bhp and 115 Nm of torque while the CNG has an output of 72 bhp and 103 Nm. The CNG is only available with a manual transmission. With both Tiago and Tigor CNG available with an AMT, the Punch could soon get this option.
