Tata Punch is one of the highest-selling passenger cars in India consistently ranking in the top five list of cars in the monthly sales with over 15,000 units sold every month on an average. The fact that it is an SUV (or called an SUV) that too one of the most affordable ones, makes it a hot buy for buyers looking for an affordable and small SUV.
Earlier this year, Tata Motors launched a fully-electric version of the Punch with a heavily reworked styling while the internal combustion engine (ICE)-powered Punch continues with the original design. It was earlier reported that the facelifted Punch ICE will come with the updated design which is slated to hit the markets sometime in the middle of 2025.
However, it seems there has been a change in plans by Tata Motors. It is reported that the homegrown carmaker intends to launch the Punch facelift by early 2025. This will be the first major update for the micro SUV ever since it was first launched in September 2021. While crucial details about the upcoming Tata Punch facelift are still under wraps, new details regarding the 2025 Punch have now leaked on the internet.
Tata Punch facelift: Variant rejig
As per the leaked report, Tata Motors will delete a few variants of the Punch and add a few new variants to the lineup as well. Trims like Pure Rhythm, Accomplished, Accomplished (Sunroof) and Creative flagship will be discontinued. In place of these, there will be three new variants namely: Pure (O), Adventure S, Adventure+ S.
Tata Punch facelift: Revised exterior & interior
The design of the upcoming Punch facelift will be heavily reworked and in sync with its battery-powered sibling. Therefore, we can expect a completely redesigned front fascia featuring new LED headlamps, new LED DRL signatures, and a reprofiled bumper. The side profile and rear end are not likely to undergo heavy updates except for a new alloy wheel design.
Inside the cabin, the Punch facelift will come with a redesigned layout, a larger 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, and a fully digital instrument console. It is also expected to receive new upholstery and a new colour scheme for the dashboard. Moreover, the cabin will benefit from a larger “grand console” with an armrest for improved comfort.
Tata Punch facelift: New features
Besides a larger touchscreen infotainment display and digital instrument cluster, the upcoming Punch facelift will have quite a few feature additions. These will include wireless Android Auto and Apple Carplay, wireless charging pad and C-type fast charging ports in Accomplished and Creative variants. Further, the electric sunroof will be extended to more variants.
Tata Punch facelift: No changes in powertrain
We don’t expect Tata to make any changes to the powertrain setup. Hence, it will be powered by the same 1.2-litre three-cylinder petrol engine that pushes out 85 bhp and 113 Nm of peak torque. This unit will be available with two gearbox options– a 5-speed manual and a 5-speed AMT.
