Tata Motors is gearing up to launch the Harrier EV in the coming days. The all-electric SUV was first showcased as a concept back at Auto Expo 2020, followed by a more updated version of the same at Auto Expo 2023. The production version of the Harrier EV was showcased at the Bharat Mobility Expo 2025 in January.
The latest iteration of the battery-powered SUV received some design upgrades over the previous prototypes. Hence, Tata Motors has filed a fresh patent for the Harrier EV ahead of its launch which is in sync with all the styling updates with the production-spec model. Test mules of the Harrier EV have been spotted on numerous occasions over the past couple of years.
Tata Harrier EV: Design
The Harrier EV gets a new all-enclosed front fascia with a nose sporting four horizontal creases. The front bumpers have been tweaked as it houses vertical slats. The patent shows a new set of alloy wheels similar to the Harrier Stealth Edition. Similarly, the roof rails appear to be chunkier than what we have seen previously on a Harrier.
In all probability, this patent is applicable for the Harrier EV Stealth Edition which comes with an all-dark exterior and interior theme. The rest of the design is identical to the diesel-powered Harrier, barring the Harrier.ev branding that will distinguish the latter from the former.
Tata Harrier EV: Expected Interiors
As seen in the spy images previously, the cabin layout of the Harrier EV will be similar to its internal combustion engine (ICE) sibling. The Stealth Edition is expected to get the same layout wrapped in black. The standard version of the Harrier EV is expected to get a dual-tone dashboard. Highlights inside the cabin of the Harrier EV will be a 12.3-inch infotainment system by Harman and a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster.
Tata Harrier EV: Expected Features
Like the ICE version, the Harrier EV will benefit from a dual-zone climate control with touch buttons and toggle switches, a dial for Terrain modes, a four-spoke steering wheel with illuminated Tata badge, a panoramic sunroof, in-built navigation, a JBL music system and electronic parking brake. The all-electric Harrier will also boast of features like vehicle-to-load (V2L) and vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) charging.
Safety will be taken care of by 7 airbags as standard, a 360-degree camera, level 2 advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), and more.
Tata Harrier EV: Expected powertrain
Harrier EV is based on Tata’s Acti.ev architecture but it has been derived from the Land Rover D8 platform underpinning the existing Harrier ICE. Official details of the powertrain haven’t been revealed yet, but Tata Motors has announced that the Harrier EV will come with a dual-motor all-wheel drive system. Power figure is still unknown but peak torque is rated at 500 Nm. Moreover, the electric SUV will offer a single-charge range of over 500 km although the exact battery capacity is still a mystery.
