During the Tata Curvv EV launch, Tata Motors announced that the internal combustion engine (ICE) version’s pricing will be revealed on September 2. The electric version starts at Rs 17.49 lakh, with bookings commencing on August 12. Here’s what you should know about the Curvv’s petrol and diesel options. The Curvv will complete against the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, Skoda Kushaq, Volkswagen Taigun, Toyota Hyryder, Honda Elevate and MG Astor.
Tata Curvv ICE: Engine Specs
The Curvv ICE will be available in three engine options including the brand new 1.2-litre TGDI turbo petrol. It will produce 123 bhp and 225 Nm of torque. The other powertrains, the 1.2-litre turbo and the 1.5-litre diesel are borrowed from the Nexon. The former has an output of 118 bhp and 170 Nm and the diesel at 116 bhp with 260 Nm. All three engines will be available with either a 6-speed manual or 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. This is the first time a diesel engine is available with a DCT auto in this class.
Tata Curvv ICE: Exteriors
Based on Tata Motors’ new ATLAS platform, the Curvv will get a sleek LED DRLs band above the front grille with all LED lighting including the indicators. The major distinction between the ICE and the EV is that the former gets air vents in the front nose and chrome embellishments and front sensors and cameras. Like the Curvv EV, the ICE version also gets premium flush door handles, 18-inch alloy wheels and coupe’s signature sloping roofline. Moving to the rear, it sports connected LED tail lights with a roof spoiler. It is the first in its segment to offer a powered tailgate with gesture controls. The Curvv is expected to be offered in four major variants— Smart, Pure, Creative and Accomplished.
Tata Curvv ICE: Interiors
The cabin comes with a dual-tone burgundy and black combination with a four-spoke steering wheel. It gets a 12.3-inch infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, a 9-speaker JBL sound system and a wireless phone charger. In terms of seats, the front ventilated seats are ventilated while rear passengers get a two-step recline function and an electrically powered 6-way driver’s seat.
In terms of safety, the Curvv gets Level 2 ADAS, six airbags, all four disc brakes, electronic stability control, tyre pressure monitoring system, a 360-degree camera and an electronic parking brake with auto hold.
