Skoda has teased its upcoming sub-4 metre SUV, which is set to debut in early 2025. This new SUV will be based on the MQB A0 platform, similar to the Kushaq and Slavia. The latest teaser, the second one released, showcases the vehicle’s solid, clean, and sharp design ethos.
Skoda Compact SUV: Design
Following the footsteps of the Kushaq and the Kodiaq, the new sub 4 metre SUV will sport a wide three-dimensional hexagon pattern grille with vertical slats in a chrome-finish frame and split headlight design. Like any compact SUV in this segment, the Skoda SUV will also have short overhangs, especially in the rear. It will also get the typical Skoda muscular front and rear bumpers.
Based on the new teaser, the new SUV gets an upside-down L-shaped LED tail lamp with a Skoda nametag on the tailgate. The SUV will also get roof rails. The company has not yet revealed the name but it has shortlisted the following names — Kwiq, Kariq, Kyroq, Kymaq or Kylaq. The new Skoda SUV will enter the most competitive segment and will go up against the Tata Nexon. Maruti Suzuki Brezza, Mahindra 3X0, Kia Sonet, Hyundai Venue, Renault Kiger and Nissan Magnite.
The new Skoda SUV is expected to borrow components from the Kushaq.
Skoda Compact SUV: Engine Specs
Skoda is expected to plonk the 1-litre turbo petrol in the new SUV’s hood. This is the same engine available in both the Kushaq and the Slavia. The powertrain has an output of 114 bhp and 178 Nm which will be available in both a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed automatic torque converter. The new SUV is expected to house twin digital displays and front-ventilated seats.
