It seems the automobile industry in India is seeing a surge of all-black edition offerings as both Mahindra and Tata Motors launched their versions of the Scorpio N Carbon and the Safari Stealth respectively. We take a closer look at the two popular SUVs and tell you which one should you buy.
Mahindra Scorpio N Carbon vs Tata Safari Stealth: Price
The Scorpio-N Carbon offers a 2.0-litre petrol engine producing 200 bhp and 370 Nm for manual and 380 Nm for automatic and a 2.2-litre diesel engine with 172 bhp and 370 Nm for manual and 400 Nm for automatic. Both engines are mated to either a 6-speed manual or 6-speed automatic torque converter. The Scorpio N is available in both two-wheel-drive and four-wheel-drive.

The Safari, meanwhile, is only in diesel, featuring a 2-litre engine that delivers 168bhp and 350Nm of torque. Similar to the Scorpio N Carbon, the Safari Stealth offers a choice between a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic torque converter. The catch with the Stealth Edition is that only 2,700 units are available.

Mahindra Scorpio N Carbon vs Tata Safari Stealth: Features
The Scorpio-N Carbon all-black alloy wheels, roof rails and skid plates. To spruce up its design, it gets smoked chrome inserts on the door handles, front grille, tail lamps, and the headlamp cluster. As expected, the interiors are also black including the dashboard and the leatherette upholstery.
The Scorpio N Carbon is packed with features like front ventilated seats, 12-speaker Sony Sound System, auto-dimming bezel-less inside rearview mirror and more. It is equipped with six airbags, ABS with EBS, electronic stability control, hill hold control, hill descent control, parking sensors, a tyre pressure monitoring system, ISOFIX child seat anchorages, all four disc brakes, and a rear parking camera.
The Safari Stealth edition comes in matt black paint, black 19-inch alloy wheels and a Stealth badging. The cabin is all black with the dashboard getting soft-touch materials and black leather upholstery. It comes with a voice-activated panoramic sunroof, ventilated seats for the front and second row, a 12.3-inch infotainment system with MapMyIndia navigation system, a powered tailgate and a dual-zone climate control.
