Kia will be launching the Syros in January most likely at the upcoming Bharat Mobility Expo 2025. The all-new subcompact SUV broke cover a week ago and will be the second sub-4 metre offering from the Korean carmaker in India after Sonet. It will most likely be slotted between Sonet and Seltos.

Earlier this year, Express Drives reported that Kia is working on developing a subcompact electric SUV. It is possible that this battery-powered SUV could be the EV version of Syros. It has now come to light that Kia could introduce this fully-electric derivative of Syros in early 2026.

Kia Syros EV: Expected launch

According to a recent Autocar India report, Kia is planning to launch the Syros EV in the first quarter of 2026, i.e., between January and March. What’s interesting to note is that the Syros EV will most likely be based on the K1 platform which also underpins the Hyundai Inster EV. An all-electric version of Hyundai Exter, the Inster broke cover earlier this year. It is available with two 42kWh and 49kWh Nickel Manganese Cobalt battery options: 42kWh and 49kWh, that claim WLTP ranges of 300km and 355km, respectively, on a single charge.

Kia Syros EV: Expected Design & Features

The Syros EV will retain a design closely aligned with its ICE counterpart, adhering to Kia’s ‘Opposites United’ design philosophy. In the ICE-powered Syros, the front features a distinctive setup of three stacked LED headlights complemented by perpendicular-shaped LED DRLs. Its dolphin-inspired blunt nose, combined with a black lower bumper and silver inserts, enhances its unique aesthetic.

The side profile presents a boxy silhouette with squared-off wheel arches, and the top-spec model comes fitted with 17-inch alloy wheels. The Syros sets a benchmark in its segment by incorporating flush door handles, a shark-fin antenna, and an integrated roof spoiler.
