Kia is set to storm the sub-4 metre SUV segment with the launch of the all-new Syros in February. This will be the South Korean brand’s second compact SUV offering. For those eager to secure their vehicle early, bookings will open on January 3, 2025 midnight with deliveries expected to begin in the second week of February. Kia has also confirmed that the booking amount is set at Rs 25,000.

Commenting on this, Hardeep Singh Brar, Sr. VP and Head of Sales and Marketing, said, “With the Syros, we are proud to introduce a game-changing SUV that embodies the perfect blend of innovation, style, and comfort, designed to exceed the expectations of the young, aspirational India. As we open pre-bookings, we invite customers to be among the first to experience the future of motoring.”

Kia Syros: What is it?

The Syros will be slotted between the Sonet and the Seltos. Like the Inster EV, the new SUV is based on the K1 platform and Kia will soon also launch the Syros EV. Even though the Sonet and the Syros are 3,995 mm in length, the latter is taller and wider as it has a longer wheelbase.

The Kia Syros is packed with plenty of segment-first features, such as six parking sensors (including side sensors), flush door handles, and a 30-inch display setup that combines the infotainment system, driver’s instrument cluster, and climate control virtual switches. It also supports over-the-air (OTA) updates. A standout feature is its versatile rear bench, which can recline, slide, and is split 60:40. While the rear seat squab is ventilated, the backrest does not have this feature. The Syros also offers a 4-way electrically adjustable driver’s seat for added comfort.

Kia Syros: Engine Specs

The Syros will come in two engine options — the 1-litre turbo petrol and the 1.5-litre diesel. Kia has confirmed that the new SUV will not get the 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol powertrain like the Sonet. The 118 bhp 998 cc turbo is mated to a 6-speed manual and a 7-speed DCT automatic transmission and has 172 Nm. The 1,493 cc diesel produces 114 bhp with 250 Nm and is available in either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic torque converter gearbox.
