Jeep Meridian X Edition brought back, priced at Rs 29.99 lakh

Jeep Meridian competes against the likes of Toyota Fortuner, MG Gloster and Skoda Kodiaq.

Jeep has relaunched the special X Edition of Meridian in India, priced at Rs 29.99 lakh (ex-showroom). This makes it Rs 50,000 dearer than the base Limited MT variant on which the X Edition is based. Although functionally identical to the standard Meridian, the X Edition gets cosmetic updates, both outside and inside, to differentiate it from the rest of the range. 

Bookings for this special edition of Meridian have begun. Interested customers can book the SUV online or by visiting the nearest Jeep showroom. Jeep is offering the Meridian X in seven colour options, including, Silvery Moon, Techno Metallic Green, Magnesio Grey, Pearl White, Brilliant Black, Galaxy Blue, and Velvet Red.

Jeep Meridian X: What’s new?

The Meridian X gets body-coloured lowers, and side steps along with Grey-coloured roof, ORVMs and alloy wheels. Inside the cabin, the Meridian X gets a host of additional features such as side moulding, puddle lamps, programmable ambient lighting, sunshades, air purifier, Dash Cam, and premium carpet  mats. Buyers can also opt for a  rear seat entertainment package.

Speaking at the launch of Meridian X, Kumar Priyesh, Brand Director, Jeep India, remarked, “The Jeep Meridian X  reflects our dedication to constantly innovate and elevate the driving experiences for our customers. The Special  Edition epitomises the inherent duality of the SUV, seamlessly transitioning from conquering rugged off-road terrain  to commanding attention on urban streets.” 

Jeep Meridian X: Powertrain specs

Mechanically, the Meridian X is identical to the standard SUV which is powered by a  2.0-litre, four-cylinder diesel engine producing 168 bhp and 350 Nm of peak torque. The engine is mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox or an optional 9-speed torque converter automatic. Jeep is yet to clarify if the Meridian X will be available with both gearboxes or whether it will be front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive.

Earlier in April this year, Jeep announced the launch of the facelifted version— Meridian 2.0– later this year. When launched, it will continue to rival the likes of Toyota Fortuner, MG Gloster and Skoda Kodiaq.
