Toyota launched the new-gen Camry in India at a time when sedans have seemingly lost their charm among the buyers. Moreover, the D-segment sedan segment is a lot poorer with only two prominent names left, the Skoda Superb being the other one. A couple of decades ago, this segment was ruled by Honda Accord, Volkswagen Passat, Ford Mondeo, and Hyundai Sonata.

Most of the features offered in Camry are offered in Superb as well. Some of the notable common features include a premium audio system, touchscreen infotainment with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, wireless phone charging, in-built navigation, digital instrument cluster, 3-zone climate control, and Head-Up Display (HUD) to name a few. That said, Camry offers a larger 12.3-inch touchscreen as compared to the 9.11-inch screen in the Superb.
Even in safety, both sedans offer nine airbags, 360 view camera, hill-hold assist, cruise control, electronic parking brake with brake hold function and more importantly Level 2 Advanced Driver Assistance System comprising features such as lane departure warning, lane keeping assist, auto emergency braking, etc.

The biggest differentiating factor between the Camry and Super are their respective powertrains. The Superb is powered by a 2.0-litre TSI EVO turbocharged petrol engine which kicks out 188 bhp and 320 Nm of peak torque. This motor is paired exclusively with a 7-speed DSG automatic gearbox.

On the other hand, the Camry gets a strong hybrid powertrain featuring a 2.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine which kicks out 184 bhp and 221 Nm of peak torque by itself. The IC engine is assisted by an electric motor which cranks out 134 bhp and 208 Nm of torque. The combined peak output stands at 227 bhp. Further, the Camry also offers much better fuel efficiency at 25.49 kmpl.

Both Toyota Camry and Skoda Superb are available in a single, fully-loaded trim each. The former is priced at Rs 48 lakh while the latter carries a price tag of Rs 54 lakh (both ex-showroom). The difference in pricing stems from the fact that Camry is a locally-assembled CKD import whereas Superb is a fully-imported CBU model.
