Kia is gearing up for launching the updated Carens in the country. Test mules of the MPV have been spied on numerous occasions over the past year or so. It has now come to light that the Korean carmaker will launch the MPV on May 8. First launch in January 2022, this will be the first major makeover that Carens receives.
Unlike other facelifts, the new version of Carens will offer several upgrades over the existing model. At the same time, Kia has confirmed that older Carens will remain on sale and the upcoming model will be a more premium alternative and sit on top of the existing model.
Earlier reports indicate that select dealerships have started accepting pre-bookings for the new Carens unofficially at a token amount of Rs 25,000. The launch of the new Carens will be followed by its all-electric derivative which is expected to go on sale in the next couple of months.
2025 Kia Carens: Expected Design & Features
The updated Carens retains its overall silhouette, and will most likely retain its dimensions as well. However, there will be updates to the headlights, DRLs, tail lamps, grille, bumper, alloy wheels and other bits, in line with the new Kia design language seen on Seltos and Syros. The tail lamps will be connected while the headlights will receive the new ‘Starlamp’ theme with a triangular housing.
Inside, the new Carens is set to receive a host of upgrades, including a panoramic sunroof, dual TFT displays—one for the infotainment system and another for the digital instrument cluster—a touch-sensitive climate control panel, Level 2 ADAS features, ventilated seats, and more. These enhancements are also expected to carry over to the upcoming Carens EV, which will share the same platform, though its exterior will feature subtle design tweaks to distinguish it from the ICE version.
2025 Kia Carens: Expected Powertrain
The 2025 Kia Carens is expected to retain the same powertrain setup including a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine, a 1.5-litre turbo petrol engine, and a 1.5-litre diesel engine. Transmission options include 6-speed manual, 6-speed clutchless manual, 6-speed torque converter automatic, and 7-speed dual-clutch automatic.
