Triumph Motorcycle has teased yet another motorcycle on its social media handles ahead of its global debut on October 22. The teaser doesn’t reveal any significant details of the upcoming model apart from the “800” branding on the fuel tank and its date of debut mentioned in the caption.
The new Triumph bike is expected to make its first public appearance at the upcoming edition of EICMA next month. The details on the short 10-second teaser video isn’t enough to predict any specific details of the upcoming model. As of now, there is no confirmation if this motorcycle will land in India or not.
Triumph 800cc bike possibilities
There have been murmurs of Triumph developing a bigger and more powerful derivative of the Trident which currently gets a 660cc engine. Rumours suggest that the British brand may utilise the existing 765cc mill used in the Street Triple range for this upcoming bike. Triumph may bore out the triple inline motor to match the displacement which will potentially increase the power and torque outputs of the motor.
As of now, the liquid-cooled, 12 valve, DOHC, inline 3-cylinder in the Triumph Street Triple 765 R pushes out 118.4 bhp at 11,500 rpm and a peak torque of 80 Nm at 9,500 rpm. This unit is paired with a 6-speed gearbox with a slip and assist clutch.
Another possibility is downsizing the 888cc triple-cylinder engine found in the Tiger 850 Sport. In this case, the engine output will most likely be detuned which currently pushes out 84 bhp at 8,500 rpm and a peak torque of 82 Nm at 6,500 rpm. Transmission duties are carried out by a 6-speed gearbox. The last possibility is expanding the Daytona moniker which is currently offered with only the 660cc inline-triple motor. An 800cc middleweight sports tourer with the Daytona branding might be a very good pull for enthusiasts.
