The modern age scooters have shattered that mindset of being a practical family oriented two-wheeler. Here are the five scooters to watch out for if you want both practicality and performance.
Hero Xoom 160
We start with the new kid on the block, the Hero Xoom 160, which was launched at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025 at Rs 1,48,500, ex-showroom. It is powered by a 156cc liquid cooled engine with 14.6bhp at 8,000rpm and 14Nm at 6,500rpm. It sits on 14-inch wheels, a ground clearance of 155mm, seat height of 787mm and a fuel tank capacity of 7 litres.
Yamaha Aerox 155
The Aerox 155 is the most powerful scooter in the affordable range. The 155cc liquid cooled churns out 14.7 bhp at 8000rpm and 13.9Nm at 6500rpm. It has a seat height of 790mm, ground clearance of 145mm and a fuel tank of 5.5 litre. The Aerox 155 is priced at Rs 1,52,750, ex-showroom.
Aprilia SR 160
Performance and Aprilia go hand-in-hand and the same goes for its scooter, the SR 160. It has 160.03cc with 11.11bhp at 7100rpm and 13.44Nm at 5300rpm. It gets a 30mm front forks with a monoshock at the rear. According to Aprilia, the scooter accelerates from 0 – 60 kmph in 7.5 seconds. The SR 160 starts from Rs 1,30,378, ex-showroom Maharashtra.
Vespa
Piaggio recently launched the refreshed Vespa in the 125cc category. It has an output of 9.3bhp at 7,100rpm and 10.1Nm at 5,600rpm. It has a 200mm front disc brake and a 140mm drum brake. It has a seat height of 770mm and 7.4 litres. The Vespa range starts from Rs 1,32,500, ex-showroom, Maharashtra.
TVS Ntorq
The Ntorq is one of the sportiest scooter in the 125cc segment and gets a 124.8cc, single-cylinder, fuel-injected engine. The Ntorq generates 9.3bhp at 7000rpm and 10.6Nm at 5,500rpm. It has a top speed of 90 kmph and does 0 – 60kmph in 8.9 seconds. The Ntorq starts from Rs 86,982.
