BMW Motorrad joining hands with TVS Motor Company about a decade ago was a monumental moment for India’s two-wheeler market. The two OEMs went on to co-develop the 310cc platform and engine which gave birth to the TVS’ flagship and BMW’s entry-level models like the Apache RR 310, Apache RTR 310, G 310 R, G 310 GS, and G 310 RR.
There have been reports in recent times which indicated that BMW was working with TVS to develop a new two-wheeler platform which will sit on top of the present 310cc lineup. This took shape in the form of the BMW F 450 GS Concept which recently broke cover at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025 last month.
BMW F 450 GS debut this year
Prior to this, the concept was showcased at the EICMA 2024. Through a recent Instagram post, the German brand has confirmed that the production version of the F 450 GS will make its debut at the end of this year. This adventure bike will be locally produced at TVS’ Hosur-based facility. We expect the production version of the F 450 GS to make its global debut at the 2025 EICMA in November while it can go on sale by early 2026.
Visually, BMW F 450 GS takes inspiration from the larger GS models and looks like a proper adventure bike with a tall stance which has been developed to tackle the trickiest off-road challenges. Like a typical ADV, the F 450 GS gets a sharp beak up front, complemented by large windscreen, a unique headlamp cluster, and a golden finished front forks. The concept gets a single-piece seat which can accommodate only the rider.
Other highlights include knuckle guards, a chunky engine sump guard, a floating tail section, and an upswept underseat exhaust. We don’t expect BMW to veer off from the concept too much in the final production form. In terms of equipment, the F 450 GS will be kitted with a colour TFT instrument panel, and electronic aids such as lean-sensitive traction control, cornering ABS, etc.
Technical specifications haven’t been revealed but images reveal that the bike rolls on wire-spoke wheels wrapped in knobby tyres, upside-down front forks, rear monoshock, and front and rear disc brakes with switchable dual-channel ABS. The bike weighs 175 kg (kerb). As for the engine, the F 450 GS is powered by a 450cc, twin-cylinder liquid-cooled engine which kicks out 48 bhp.
BMW F 450 GS expected price & rivals
Despite being locally-produced, expect the BMW F 450 to be priced at a slight premium around Rs 4.0 – 4.5 lakh (ex-showroom). When launched, it will take on the upcoming Aprilia Tuareg 457 and also be a premium alternative to the likes of Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 and KTM 390 Adventure. We also hope that TVS will launch its own version of this ADV based on the same platform in the foreseeable future.
