Ducati has taken the covers off two brand new concepts at the 2024 London Bike Shed Motoshow. Codenamed CR241 and RR241, these concept bikes are based on the Ducati Scrambler. While the former is a cafe racer, the latter is a more hardcore interpretation of a modern scrambler.
Given their distinct identities, the CR241 takes inspiration from the 1960s British Café Racer styling while the RR241 takes cues from machines shown in Western post-apocalyptic movies. From the naked eye, it is very difficult to say that underneath both the concept bikes are almost identical to each other.
Ducati Scrambler CR241
With obvious inspiration from the cafe racers of the 1960s, the CR241 has its design borrowed from a fighter jet featuring a bikini fairing, a clip-on handlebar, bar end mirrors and a flat seat. The removable rear seat can be replaced by a cowl to make it a single-seater. For added flair, a Termignoni exhaust system can be opted for a bassy symphony.
Giving the bike a sportier stance are shorter 17-inch alloy wheels which should also make a difference to its ride and handling dynamics. The fairing mounted on the tank harks back to Ducati icons like the Pantah and the 750 SS. Further, the single-sided swingarm extends to form a rear tyre hugger which doubles up as registration plate holder.
Ducati Scrambler RR241
On the other hand, the RR241 adopts a more minimalistic and functional styling. The raw visual elements, especially those made of aluminium are the most prominent highlights. The front fender is a short beak while the rear fender has been chopped off completely. The fuel tank incorporates a frame to attach a bag for carrying the goods.
Like the CR241, the RR241 also gets a removable pillion seat that can be used to mount a luggage rack, or repurposed jerry cans mounted on the left side case at the rear. The RR241 also gets a Termignoni exhaust muffler. The chassis has been raised due to 18-inch front and 17-inch rear wire-spoked wheels shod with knobby Pirelli Scorpion Rally STR tyres.
Ducati Scrambler CR241, RR241 powertrain
Powering both the Scrambler concepts are the same 803cc, air-cooled, V-twin Desmodue engine that produces 72 bhp and 65.2 Nm of peak torque. It comes mated to a six-speed gearbox. Currently, the Bologna-based superbike brand hasn’t confirmed if these concepts will enter into production anytime soon.
