Pharma companies failed to follow rules, says CDSCO as cough syrup death toll climbs to 20
The death toll of children who consumed contaminated cough syrup in Madhya Pradesh has risen to 20. The CDSCO found that drug companies did not follow testing rules. The WHO is seeking clarification on exportation. The government plans to improve supply chain and reduce risks by disincentivising the use of propylene glycol, believed to be the cause of deaths.
