Private banks’ asset quality improves on lower slippages
Private sector banks saw improved asset quality in Q2, with lower slippages leading to a decline in GNPA and net NPA ratios. HDFC Bank and ICICI Bank reported sequential improvements, while IndusInd Bank and IDFC First also saw a decrease in their ratios. Lenders remain focused on maintaining a healthy asset quality while balancing growth and prudence in the face of evolving macro conditions.
