The Triumph Infor Rocket Streamliner has become the world’s fastest ever Triumph by achieving a speed of 274.2 mph (about 440 km/h) at the Bonneville Salt Flats today. The streamliner was piloted by Guy Martin, a long-time Isle of Man TT racer. Martin and Triumph broke the earlier record of 245.667 mph (about 396 km/h) set by Bob Leppan in the Gyronaut X-1. The record run was carried out in ideal conditions on the first run of the practice day.
The Infor Rocket Streamliner is powered by two Rocket III engines, turbocharged to develop a combined 1,000 hp at 9,000 rpm, while running on methanol fuel. The streamliner features a carbon Kevlar monocoque construction for the highest possible strength at the lightest possible weight. At 25.5 feet long, 3 feet tall and 2 feet wide, the streamliner has been purpose-built to cut through air to achieve high speeds.

While the team has set a record today, their work is far from over yet as they aim to break the highest motorcycle land speed record. The current record stands at 376.363 mph (605.697 km/h), which was set by Rocky Robinson in the Top Oil-Ack Attack streamliner in 2010. Guy Martin will make the record attempt in the Triumph Infor Rocket Streamliner later in this month.
