The Toyota Platinum Etios is an entry level sedan by the Japanese carmaker and is sold with a 1.5-litre petrol and a 1.4-litre diesel engine. Like its hatchback sibling, the Etios Liva, the Platinum Etios also has ABS and dual front airbags as standard and is claimed to have best in class air conditioning. Cabin space and boot space are the best in its price segment, with the volume of the latter rated at 592 litres. The Platinum Etios also has a folding rear seat, cooled glovebox and height adjustable driver seat, electrically adjustable and foldable outside rear view mirrors (ORVMs) and steering mounted audio controls to add more convenience for the occupants and the driver. The reverse parking sensors on the upper variants aid parking in tight spots.

    The Platinum Etios measures 4,265 mm in length for the base G variant, whereas it is 4,369 mm for the upper variants. It is 1,695 mm wide and 1,510 mm tall. The wheelbase of 2,550 mm along with a minimum turning radius 4.9 metres makes it manoeuvrable for negotiating tight turns. The electrically adjustable and foldable ORVMs add to the convenience. In terms of ride comfort, the Platinum Etios comes with McPherson Struts up front and a Torsion Beam at the rear and is shod with 175/70 section tyres on 14-inch steel rims. The rear bench can fold to increase luggage space and comes with ISOFIX child seat fittings. The rear also comes with a centre armrest adding comfort for the rear occupants.

    The Toyota Platinum Etios is powered by two engines, a 1,496 cc petrol and a 1,364 cc diesel unit. Power and torque generated by the petrol is 88.7hp at 5,600 rpm and 132Nm at 3,000 rpm. The diesel unit produces 67hp at 3,800 rpm and 170Nm between 1,800 rpm and 2,400 rpm. Both engines are refined and inclined towards fuel efficiency.
