The Etios Cross measures 3,895 mm in length, 1,735 mm in width and 1,555 mm in height. The wheelbase of 2,460 mm along with a minimum turning radius of 4.8 metres makes it pretty manoeuvrable in heavy traffic. The electrically adjustable and foldable ORVMs add further to the convenience. In terms of ride comfort, the Etios Cross has an improved ride height with a McPherson Struts suspension setup upfront and a Torsion Beam at the rear and is shod with 185/60 section tyres on 15 inch ‘Diamond cut’ alloy wheels on all variants.
The Toyota Etios Cross has a number of features including a cooled glovebox, an all black interior, a 3 spoke steering wheel, seven one litre bottle holders, front and rear door pockets and ergonomic controls. Cabin space is decent and the Etios Cross can seat four adults with ease. Similar to the Etios Liva, the boot space is 251 litres, which is one of the best in its segment. Audio controls mounted on the steering wheel for the 2 DIN infotainment unit with USB, AUX-in and Bluetooth playback adds to the convenience for the driver.
The Toyota Etios Cross is powered by three engines, a 1,197 cc and 1,496 cc petrol engine and a 1,364 cc diesel engine. The smaller petrol motor generates 79hp power at 5,600 rpm and 104Nm at 3,100 rpm while the larger unit produces 89hp at 5,600 rpm and 132Nm at 3,000 rpm. The diesel churns out 67 hp at 3,800 rpm and 170Nm from 1,800 rpm to 2,400 rpm.
The Toyota Etios Cross has a 5-speed manual gearbox for all engines. All transmissions are paired with a light clutch and gear changes are smooth. Gear ratios are tuned to deliver good drivability, translating into lesser gear shifts in traffic.
The Toyota Etios Cross comes with dual front airbags as standard on all variants. Except for the base G version, all other variants have ABS. The Etios Cross also scored an impressive four out of five stars in the Global NCAP safety rating, making it one of the safest crossover hatchbacks in the country.
The Toyota Etios Cross has a certified mileage of 17.71 km.l for the 1.2 litre petrol variant, 16.78 km/l for the 1.4 litre petrol, and 23.59 km/l for the 1.4 litre diesel. While the petrol fuel efficiency figures are acceptable for its segment, the diesel’s fuel efficiency is one of the best in its segment.
