McLaren has done it again and Piastri takes the win at the Bahrain Grand Prix, making the Aussie the only multiple-race winner of the 2025 season so far. Starting from pole position, Piastri successfully fended off attacks from George Russell and teammate Norris to take the win, sitting in second place in the overall standings ahead of defending champion Verstappen.

2025 F1 Bahrain GP: The Race

Race winner Oscar Piastri started in pole position and when the lights dropped, it was a close call between him and the Mercedes Driver, George Russell, at Turn 1, but the Aussie managed to take control quickly and set about building a strong lead for the rest of the race. Teammate Norris had trouble early on as well, being hit with a five-second time penalty for being out of position on the grid box. Piastri was slowed down when the safety car was out, but he managed to get a clean getaway after that, rebuilding his lead, and eventually finishing with a 15-second lead.

Russell moved into second, ultimately finishing in the same spot, after fending off Norris’ McLaren, which was just 0.774s behind the Mercedes. Ferrari’s Leclerc finished fourth after a battle with the McLaren ahead of him, followed by teammate Lewis Hamilton in fifth. Verstappen had to settle for sixth, followed by Gasly, Ocon, Tsunoda, and Bearman.

2025 F1 Bahrain GP: The Results

Defending Champion Verstappen had two drama-filled pitstops during the race — his second pitstop on lap 27 saw a stubborn front right wheel that refused to come undone quickly enough. Sainz and Tsunoda’s battle for sixth place saw the two make contact, throwing some debris on the track that resulted in the safety car coming out. As soon as the safety car was out, five drivers made the pit stop. Along the race, Sainz was handed a 10-second penalty for forcing another driver off the track.
