The Renault Kiger has made its world premiere in India. The Kiger is the sibling to the Nissan Magnite which was launched in December 2020. As a subcompact SUV, the Renault Kiger will rival the likes of the Kia Sonet, Tata Nexon, Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza and other along with its sibling — the Magnite.
-
Renault has given the Kiger an aggressive and bold styling. It follows Renault’s global design language for its SUVs. From the rear, the Kiger looks like a more mature and bigger version of the Kwid. The Kiger uses the same CMF-A+ platform that underpins the Triber as well as the Nissan Magnite.
-
The top-of-the-line-model Kiger will be offered with all-LED lighting set up. It will feature the split headlamp design with the LED DRLs and the turn indicators in the eyebrow design. The main headlamp cluster will feature the tri-beam layout which is placed below on the front bumper. The tail-lamps will also feature LEDs in the C-shaped design.
-
The Kiger will be offered with a range of wheel design options. But the higher-spec version will feature diamond-cut R16 alloy wheels. Additionally, the Kiger will be offered with a cool new accessory package which will add different colour tones to the wheels as well.
-
The interior of the Renault Kiger is brand new and borrows only slightly from the Magnite. Although it features the same touchscreen infotainment system as the Magnite, it also comes with a digital driver’s instrument cluster. Renault boasts best-in-class cabin shoulder room in the Kiger. The Kiger will offer wireless charging along with wireless Apple CarPlay, Android Auto Connectivity in addition to connected car technology.
-
The Kiger will be powered by the same HRA0 1.0-litre, 3-cylinder, turbo petrol engine. It is likely to be in the same spec as the Magnite offering upto 100hp and 160Nm of torque. The 1.0-litre naturally aspirated motor from the Triber could also be offered in a similar fashion as it is with the Magnite at a lower price point. The Kiger will also offer engine-drive modes.
-
The 1.0-litre turbo would be offered with a 5-speed manual transmission as standard. There will also be a CVT option, but torque output would likely drop to 152Nm, like the Magnite. If the naturally aspirated option is available, it would most likely be offered with just the 5-speed manual gearbox.
