Mahindra has officially commenced the bookings of its two borne electric SUVs — the BE 6 and the XEV 9e. The two EV SUVs have been creating quite a ripple in the EV segment and they have now caught the interest of the music legend AR Rahman. Mahindra has a long standing collaboration with Rahman as he composed soundscape which is over 75 sounds including exterior and interior drive sounds, infotainment cues, and functional signals and much more.
In a video shared on social media, President – Automotive Product Development, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd and Joint Managing Director, Mahindra Electric Automobile Limited, R Velusamy introduces AR Rahman to the two EVs and asks which would he prefer to drive.

Will AR Rahman choose BE 6 or XEV 9e?
The world is in love with big powerful SUVs and AR Rahman is no different. He chose to drive Mahindra’s flagship mode, the XEV 9e. The Indian automobile manufacturer is offering the best-of-the features, tech and safety. The two Mahindra EVs are the first made-in-India vehicle to feature Dolby Atmos under the Rs 50 lakh price bracket.
In true AR Rahman style he tests the acoustics in the cabin and the maestro was so impressed that he said, “Driving is about liberation. Same way I think music is about liberation.” Before signning off, he confessed that he is going to book one but left everyone hanging without revealing which one he will choose. Mahindra XEV 9e: Specifications
Based on the INGLO skateboard platform, XEV 9e is available in five variants — Pack One, Pack One Above, Pack Two, Pack Three Select, and Pack Three. It is available in two battery pack options — 59 kWh and 79 kWh. The former churns out 228 bhp and a MIDC range of 542 km while the latter produces 281 bhp and a 656 km range. Both the batteries have a torque output of 380 Nm. The XEV 9e offers multiple drive modes — Range, Everyday, Race, Snow and Custom.
