Volkswagen is bringing the Golf GTI to India for the first time. Pre-bookings for the Golf GTI commenced on May 26 and within a couple of days, the German carmaker had to stop accepting orders for the hot hatch. To be available in India as a fully-imported Completely Built Unit, the Golf GTI will be launched on May 26. The first 250 units of the Golf GTI have already been spoken for.
Volkswagen Golf GTI: Exterior
The Golf GTI features an illuminated VW emblem and a GTI variant badge on its slim upper grille, complemented by Matrix LED headlights. The front bumper stands out with a large honeycomb-patterned air dam and distinctive X-shaped fog lights. Along the sides, red ‘GTI’ badges and matching red brake calipers—tucked behind 18-inch alloy wheels—enhance its sporty character.Â

At the rear, a GTI badge adorns the tailgate, while additional highlights include a roof spoiler, smoked (but unconnected) LED tail-lights, and dual chrome exhaust tips. It will be offered in four colour options namely Kings Red, Grenadilla Black, Oryx White, and Moonstone Grey.
Volkswagen Golf GTI: Interiors & Features
The Golf features a dual-tone black-and-grey interior, highlighted by a 12.9-inch infotainment system, a wireless phone charger, USB-C ports supporting up to 45W fast charging, and a 3-zone climate control system. It also comes equipped with a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, ventilated front seats, a multifunction steering wheel with push buttons, and ambient lighting. The all-black upholstery is crafted entirely from recycled polyester and PET bottles.
On the safety front, the Golf GTI includes advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) such as adaptive cruise control, a 360-degree camera, emergency assist, emergency brake assist, lane keeping assist, and automatic high/low beam functionality.

Volkswagen Golf GTI: Powertrain
Powering the Volkswagen Golf GTI is a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine that delivers 261 bhp between 5,250 and 6,500 rpm and 370 Nm of torque from 1,600 to 4,500 rpm. It comes paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. According to Volkswagen, the Golf GTI can sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in just 5.9 seconds.
