SUVs have seen a surge in sales and in December 2023, the best-selling vehicle happens to be an SUV — Tata Nexon. The Nexon managed to beat popular models like the Wagon R and the Dzire to become the best-seller last month. Tata has been registering good sales and even managed to outsell Hyundai in November, while expecting to recreate the same in December 2023.
Following the Nexon is the Tata Punch, taking the second place in the list of top 5 selling SUVs and the third spot in the list of top 10 selling vehicles in December 2023. The Punch sold 13,787 units, registering a 30 percent YoY growth over December 2022.
The Maruti Suzuki Brezza is the third best-selling SUV in December 2023, having sold 12,844 units as opposed to selling 11,200 units in December 2022, registering a YoY growth of 15 percent. The Maruti Suzuki Brezza is also the fifth best-selling vehicle overall in December 2023, outselling the Swift and Baleno.
Mahindra has made a strong comeback in sales in the last few months, with the Scorpio consistently managing to outsell the Hyundai Creta. In December, the story continued as the Mahindra Scorpio registered sales of 11,355 units and registered a robust 62 percent YoY growth. In comparison, Mahindra sold 7,003 units of the Scorpio in December 2022.
Rounding up the top 5 best-selling SUVs in December 2023 is the Hyundai Venue, which managed to outsell the Creta. Last month, Hyundai sold 10,383 units of the Venue, registering a YoY growth of 25 percent. In comparison, Hyundai sold 8,285 units of the Venue in December 2022.
