Tata Motors has recently announced that it will be increasing prices of its passenger vehicle range by Rs 25,000 starting January 2018. The manufacturer says that this hike in price is a result of rising input costs. The company’s latest Nexon SUV that was launched at a price of 5.85 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) will also see an increase in price and that will put an end to its introductory price label on 31st December 2017. Leading car makers like Hyundai, Honda and Maruti Suzuki also started offering discounts this month in order to clear their 2017 stocks. When we speak of customer perspective, many refrain from buying a car in December as the car will then be an older year when compared to the case if they buy one just a month later. Well, we know what you are thinking right now. It is actually possible that you buy a 2017 model in order to get the year-end discounts and get it registered for the year 2018. When we spoke to some dealers in Delhi NCR, they told us that in order to avail the benefits and discounts for the year-end, you can get the billing done and purchase the car in December end and they will get your vehicle registered in January 2018.
However, there is one condition to it. Although the chances are rare, in case the RTO (Regional Transport Office) increases the road tax, the extra amount has to be born by the customer only. So, just in case you are one of those who think this way, talk to your dealer if this is possible for him. Commenting on the price hike, Mayank Pareek, who is the President of Passenger Vehicle Business at Tata Motors said, “The changing market conditions, rising input costs and various external economic factors have compelled us to consider the price increase. We are optimistic on maintaining our growth trajectory in the coming year on the back of our robust product portfolio like Tiago, Hexa, Tigor and the recently launched Nexon.”
