Based on the Zica platform, the Tata Kite sedan was developed simultaneously with the Zica under a project called ‘Kite’. While the Zica will be on sale very soon, the sedan version of the vehicle will take some more time. Since the Tata Kite sedan is based on the Zica, it shares its engine options and other components with the latter. The petrol engine is a 1.2-litre, 3-cylinder Revotron unit that is good for 84bhp and 114Nm, while the 1.05-litre, three-cylinder, Revotorq diesel unit develops 69bhp and 140Nm. A 5-speed manual gearbox is offered as a standard offering on both the powertrains. Unlike rumours, the Tata Kite sedan will not replace the Indigo eCS – the country’s first sub-4 metre sedan. Instead, both the cars will be sold alongside. While the Indigo eCS will target fleet owneErs, the Kite sedan will be for private vehicle owners.
