Force India recently revealed their contender for the 2017 Formula One calender, and it is pink. The pink, magenta and silver livery is the result of a new sponsorship with BWT, a water treatment company. Furthermore, the drivers Sergio Perez and Esteban Ocon will be required to switch their helmets with pink ones. The team had just launched their new car with a grey and black colour scheme a few weeks ago. Force India boss Vijay Mallya is quite chuffed about the sponsorship saying that it is one of the most important partnerships in the team’s 10-year history. “Changing the colour of our cars is an indication of the strength of this new partnership and a real statement of intent from BWT as they begin their relationship with the sport of F1,” he said.
Other teams and drivers find the new paint job hysterical. Teams like Mercedes-AMG and Renault had a go on comedy with some humorous posts on Twitter. Many have been tweeting with hash tags like ‘pretty in pink’. Former team driver Nico Hulkenberg went to the extent of saying “Now you finally understand why I left Force India”.

The first thing that pops to mind looking at a pink F1 car, is Pink Panther having a go on Formula One and making a mess of it. Many others had similar ideas and worse.
Spotted for sale on eBay @ForceIndiaF1. You really should put a bid in. Water and sunglasses sponsors both covered there. ???? pic.twitter.com/o8ZqGeErs4

I think Force India got the wrong idea when everyone said they wanted F1 to be more like the 90s… pic.twitter.com/6kkeh42ubY

It is a major change, especially with dire stereotypes revolving around the colour pink – it is adored by teenage girls, it is for the soft – and soft is not an attitude expected in Formula One. Force India couldn’t have possibly come up with something like this and go unnoticed and without a red face.
