Nissan has finally revealed the India-spec X-Trail in its full guise. Based on the CMF-C platform co-developed by Nissan alongside Renault, the fourth-generation X-Trail made its global debut in 2022. Prices for the X-Trail are expected to be announced later this month.
The X-Trail will come to India as a fully-imported model via the CBU route, which means it will be more expensive than its rivals. The Japanese brand will announce prices for the X-Trail in India on August 1 while official pre-bookings are set to commence from July 23 onwards.
Nissan X-Trail: Design, dimensions, colour options
Similar to its international sibling, the India-spec X-Trail gets the signature V-motion reverse trapezoidal grille up front with plenty of bling going around for itself. Nissan has ditched the curvaceous design of the third-gen model for a slightly boxier silhouette. Up front, it gets split LED lighting with sleek inverted L-shaped LED DRLs while at the rear it flaunts L-shaped LED taillamps.
Other visual highlights include door claddings, 20-inch multi-spoke alloy wheels, rear wiper and washer integrated spoiler with a top-mounted stop lamp, shark-fin antenna, and dual-tone alloy wheels. In India, the X-Trail will be available in three colour options namely Diamond Black, Champagne Silver and Solid White.
In terms of dimensions, the India-spec X-Trail measures 4,680mm in length, 1,840mm in width, 1,725mm in height, and has a 2,705mm-long wheelbase. The 7-seater SUV has a 5.5m turning radius, and a ground clearance of 210mm.
Nissan X-Trail: Interiors & Features
The India-spec X-Trail will be sold exclusively as a 7-seater. It is loaded with features such as a large freestanding touchscreen infotainment system, a fully-digital instrument cluster, dual-zone climate control, panoramic sunroof, automatic wipers, electric parking brake with auto-hold function, drive modes, cup holders in the centre console, and wireless smartphone charging.
Other novelties include 360-degree camera, paddle shifters, and seat sliding and reclining functions. Safety features on offer include seven airbags, ABS and EBD, traction control, a limited-slip diff, hill-start assist, and front parking sensors.
Nissan X-Trail: Powertrain specs
The India-spec Nissan X-Trail will be offered only with a 1.5-litre three-cylinder turbo-petrol engine mated to a 12V mild-hybrid setup. This powertrain put out 161 bhp and 300 Nm of peak torque. Transmission duties are carried out by a shift-by-wire CVT automatic gearbox. Power can be sent to all-four wheels via an AWD setup aided by a limited-slip differential for off-roading purposes.
Nissan X-Trail: Expected price & rivals
Since it will be a CBU product, we expect Nissan to offer the X-Trail with a premium price tag around Rs 40-45 lakh (ex-showroom). Upon launch, it will rival premium SUVs like Hyundai Tucson, Jeep Meridian, and Skoda Kodiaq.
