Honda Cars India has delayed the launch of the third-generation Amaze to the year’s end. While initial reports indicated that the sedan would be unveiled during the festive season, Autocar India now reports that its debut is set for December 2024. The first-generation Amaze, launched in 2013, was derived from its hatchback counterpart, the Brio. The market welcomed the second-generation sedan in 2018. However, due to dwindling demand, Honda discontinued the Brio in 2016.
New Honda Amaze: What’s new?
The third-gen Amaze will be all-new from the ground up and is based on the Elevate and City platform. As the new sedan will be a sub-4-meter vehicle, the underpins will be shortened as the Elevate’s wheelbase is 2600 mm and the City’s 2650 mm. The current Amaze’s dimensions are 3995 mm in length, 1695 mm and 1498 – 1501 mm in height.
As of now, Honda has kept mum on the design of the Amaze, but it could be couple-ish-like with sharp edges sweeping headlights and an in-your-face front fascia.
New Honda Amaze: Engine Specs
The current Amaze is powered by a 1.2-litre i-VTEC with an output of 88.5 bhp and 110 Nm of torque. It is available with either a 5-speed manual or a CVT automatic gearbox. The new Amaze is expected to retain the powertrain and the two transmissions.
New Honda Amaze: Competition Check
The new Amaze is set to compete with the Maruti Suzuki Dzire, the current leader in its segment. The latest Dzire model is anticipated to launch during the forthcoming festive season. In addition to the Dzire, the new Amaze will also contend with competitors like the Hyundai Aura and Tata Tigor.
