Maruti Vitara Brezza will be launched on 8th March 2016 in an event in Mumbai, confirms the Indo-Japanese carmaker. Expected to be priced between Rs 6.50 lakh – Rs 10 lakh (ex-showroom), the Vitara Brezza had made its public debut at the 2016 Auto Expo Delhi.
The first sub-compact SUV from Maruti Suzuki, the Vitara Brezza will rival Ford EcoSport, Mahindra TUV300 and the upcoming Tata Nexon. The Brezza is the first Maruti product that has been conceptualised, designed and developed completely by the company’s Indian R&D team under the guidance of CV Raman, executive director – engineering, Maruti Suzuki. The made-in-India Maruti Vitara Brezza will be exported to other markets such as Africa, Latin America and Asia.
Power for the Maruti Vitara Brezza will come from a 1.3-litre DDiS 200 diesel engine that churns out 89bhp and 200Nm. The same engine also does duty on the Maruti S-Cross and Ciaz in the same state of tune. Transmitting power to the front-wheels of the car will be a 5-speed manual gearbox. The company plans to launch the vehicle’s petrol model as well, but at a later stage. The Vitara Brezza petrol will feature an all-new engine which will be the same that will power the global model of the sub-compact SUV.
The Maruti Vitara Brezza looks quite sporty with features such as projector headlamps with LED daytime running lights, outside rear-view mirrors with integrated turn indicators, blackened A & B pillars, radiator grille with vertical slats, plastic cladding around the body, etc. Features such as 198mm of ground clearance, square wheel arches with 16-inch alloys and high shoulder line give it an SUVish look.
