India’s largest auto maker Maruti Suzuki has started the year 2018 by reporting a growth of 5 per cent in January 2018 by selling a total of over 1.40 lakh units. the company had sold about 1.33 lakh units in January 2017. Maruti Suzuki’s mini segment that consists of India’s most sold car Maruti Suzuki Alto and Maruti Suzuki Wagon R after a long time saw decline in sales by about 12 per cent. it sold a total of 33,316 units last month as compared to 37,928 units in 2017.
Maruti Suzuki’s strong back support and a one of the constant growth factor has been the its compact segment which has famous cars like Swift, Ignis, Baleno, Dzire and Celerio. The company reported a growth of 21.5 per cent in this segment by selling a total of 67,868 units. Maruti Suzuki Ciaz’s sales too declined for second time in a row. Maruti Suzuki Ciaz registered domestic sales of 5,062 units.

Utility Vehicles (UVs) have been helping Maruti Suzuki to post constant growth for a while now and the combination of Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, Maruti Suzuki Ertiga, Maruti Suzuki S-Cross helped the company to sell a total of 20,693 UVs at a growth rate of almost 27 per cent.
Overall in this ongoing financial year, Maruti Suzuki has sold over 1.19 million vehicles and exported over 1.02 lakh units. The company is on track to report a double digit growth that it aimed for during the start of this year in April 2017.
